Day trip around Bragança

We made this trip a long time ago, but even so, we still remember it with a certain fondness for what we liked. We refer to our trip visiting the Natural Park of Montesinho and Bragança (Bragança), the capital of the Portuguese region of Tierras de Trás-os-Montes.

Our original trip, together with the companions of Castilla y León Destination did not contemplate passing the border to Portugal, it was a trip to the north of the province of Zamora, and if you also visit the Bierzo, in León, from Puebla de Sanabria. But after a few days of bad weather, we decided to change course on the fly and enter Portugal, visiting the Montesinho Natural Park.

Table of Bragança, in the 7 Wonders to the Table

Bragança is, among many qualities, synonymous with a well-preserved built heritage and a gastronomy that knows how to combine the elegance of modern cuisine with its own handmade forms, which perpetuate its authenticity and genuineness with rich and strong flavors.

We start by going towards the largest symbol of the city, the beautiful castle wall and next to the Domus Municipalis, the only example of the genus in the Iberian Peninsula, where we wait for a table with well cooked pasta, stuffed with certified meat from the region or a panoply of wild mushrooms, collected cautiously among pine and giestas, followed by one of our characteristic dishes, which can not be missed on the table of any Bragançano – a fine example of Butelo, which the cold frost of winter helped temper, accompanied by the Casulas cooked in iron pot, where the virgin olive oil velvety and softens the palate.

In the food there was representation of the local sweets with “economic”, “supplicas” and “asleep”. Then there was presentation of sweets from other regions and even presentation of pastry that we call “own manufacture.” Some vegetables some for planting. For me I avenged myself to eat of the good bread and roasted chorizo, a piece of good “bísaro”, round and delicious peas, all of the best in the D. Roberto restaurant in Gimonde. It has Housing Tourism and an appetizing regional products store, with the best sausages that are made there.
